Hyatt Simplifies and Modernizes Backup and Recovery Across Global Data Centers with Cohesity

Hyatt Hotels Corp. has deployed Cohesity DataPlatform to simplify and modernize backup and recovery across its three data center locations. With Cohesity, Hyatt now has a flexible and scalable solution for accelerated backup and recovery, long-term retention and archival, and testing and development. Hyatt’s complex IT infrastructure is spread across geographies, with data centers in Chicago, Phoenix, and Frankfurt. Its mission-critical applications run on IBM, but 70% of the company’s environment is virtual. For Hyatt’s IT team, backing up virtual servers proved cumbersome, requiring multiple steps, rebooting, and unnecessary downtime. Backups and restores took days, and public cloud storage costs for its Oracle financial systems were exorbitant. Finally, testing and development required shifting tapes and transferring data over FTP, a time-intensive endeavor. Recognizing the urgency and benefit of replacing its legacy infrastructure with a modern solution, Hyatt evaluated Cohesity against a variety of competitors. Cohesity was the clear standout, and Hyatt deployed its software and certified appliances with an approximate capacity of 350TB across its three data centers.

Hyatt Affiliate Signs Agreement for Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong in 2019

Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced that a Hyatt affiliate signed an agreement with Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited's (SHKP) affiliate to re-brand the 665-room Hotel VIC on the Harbour to Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong by the third quarter of 2019. SHKP group is a Hong Kong property developer, which hotel division now has 13 properties in operation. The company said that this will be the first Hyatt Centric hotel in the Greater China region, joining the brand's inaugural property in Asia, Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo which opened in 2018. The two towers hotel property features an all-day dining concept, speciality restaurant and bar, bakery, gym and an outdoor swimming pool on the top floor. Connected to the Harbour North shopping complex which offers many boutique restaurants, shops and an entertainment centre, the hotel is part of a large-scale waterfront integrated development consisting of a hotel, retail shops, serviced apartments, luxury apartments and a waterfront promenade. The development will be completed by the fourth quarter of 2019. Located in the dynamic North Point district on the eastern side of the Hong Kong Island, the hotel is on the waterfront with panoramic views of the Victoria Harbour and is within a walking distance from the North Point MTR Station and the North Point Ferry Pier, providing a convenient cross-harbour commute. The newly opened Central-Wanchai Bypass reduces the travel time to the city's centre and the hotel is also near the Causeway Bay and Quarry Bay precincts with culinary, entertainment and art scenes.
